We have two instructors: the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI) and the Naval Science Instructor (NSI). Instructors are retired Navy, Marine or Coast Guard officers/NCO's. These instructors are certified by Cobb County, the state of Georgia, and the Navy as NJROTC Instructors.
Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Knudson USMC(Ret):
Colonel Knudson is our Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI). He directs the overall operation of the Navy JROTC Program at Allatoona HS and is teaching the NS1 and NS4 curriculum's for SY 2017 -2018.
Master Sergeant David McKoy USMC(Ret):
Master Sergeant McKoy is our Naval Science Instructor (NSI) and is teaching the NS2 course during SY 2017 - 2018.
The color guard presents the colors at school and local events and competes at all sanctioned drill meets against other NJROTC units.
Air Rifle Team
The rifle team fires highly accurate air rifles in matches against local and national teams in the sporter division of the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP).
Armed Basic Drill Team
A specific subset of the drill team, competing in a highly scrutinized routine of prescribed movements with the addition of the manual of arms and marching under arms (replica 1903 Springfield Rifle).
Unarmed Basic Drill Team
A specific subset of the drill team, competing in a highly scrutinized routine of prescribed movements.
The academic team competes in competitions (Brain Brawls) against other NJROTC units. Subject matter includes all NSI-NSIV knowledge and current events.
A team that competes against other NJROTC units in the application of advanced land navigation techniques in a timed competition. This sport blends military navigation skills with cross country running.
Armed Drill Exhibition Team
A specific subset of the drill team, competing in a routine of advanced movements with the replica 1903 Springfield Rifle. This unit displays creativity, precision, and military bearing in the conduct of a thoroughly coordinated demonstration of weapons handling and precision marching that includes weapon throws, spins, exchanges and modifications of the manual of arms.
Unarmed Exhibition Team
A specific subset of the drill team, competing in a routine of tightly coordinated precision drill movements. It demonstrates creativity, precision, and military spirit in drill performances that incorporate silent drill, regular pace and tempo changes, and complex formation variances.
